Proper hydronic balancing in an underfloor heating system can ensure absolute thermal comfort as well as significant energy savings. However, it is a very difficult and laborious process, both for the engineers undertaking the study and design as well for the technicians installing and completing the project.
The problem
There are many factors that create problems in hydronic balancing. They usually come from:
- Various length and concentration of the heating loops
- The type of floors in the building (tiles, marble, wood, etc.)
- The placement and changes of positions of furnitures, especially large ones, within the rooms.
- Sudden weather changes.
- Leaks and minor damage to the manifold and flow valves
and have as a result an inefficient underfloor heating system that fails to provide uniform heating in all rooms and over-consumes energy that could have been avoided.
The solution
SALUS THB23030 replaces the simple thermoelectric actuators which are installed in the manifold of the underfloor heating system. Using temperature sensors for the inlet and outlet of the manifold, the auto balancing thermoelectric actuator THB 23030 has the ability to dynamically balance the flow from each loop in order to ensure the ideal thermal comfort in the room.
Check the operation of auto balancing thermoelectric actuator THB23030 in the video below:
The following figure shows the difference in operation of a standard thermoelectric actuator compared to the SALUS THB23030 self-regulating actuator :
The Benefits
- Absolute Thermal Comfort in the space.
- Quick installation in 3-steps.
- No more frequent measurement and adjustment of the manifold's flow meters.
- Elimination of unpredictable factors that create problems in hydronic balancing.
- Compatibility with the Salus Smart Home system.
